Yoga For Kids: The Child’s Pose

This as it name implies is a great pose for kids. It is in their nature to sit in this position. The big difference is the mindfulness put into it. Instead of merely sitting in this position, your kids are encouraged to meditate and keep their minds clear. It helps them free their mind and gives them the opportunity to destress after an activity-filled day. To perform this pose, all the need to do is sit upright with crossed legs and hands placed on the knee while aligning the back and neck. This pose is great for the back of the neck and the thigh.

The Corpse Pose

This is a simple yet very rewarding pose that your children can try. It does not require much effort and it is a good way to relax the body and mind. It forces them to concentrate and can improve memory and attention to detail. Also, it relaxes the muscles and gives them time to rejuvenate before they become active again. This pose is easy to do. All you need to do is get your kids to lie flat on their back facing upwards. Their legs should be straight and arms should be beside your body. With their eyes shut close, they can hum or concentrate or think of something important to them.

Then, they should slowly sit on their heels and place their hands on their knees while straightening their back.

The Mountain Pose

This is the foundation of most yoga asanas and a great way to introduce kids to yoga. The mountain pose is easy and fun and can get your kids to concentrate and focus better. It does not require much effort and it helps them build stamina to stand for a while. To perform this pose, all they need to do is stand upright with their feet a few metres apart and their arms by their sides to relax their shoulders. Then, they can slowly lift their arms above their head and hold that position. It is a very easy and relaxing procedure that your kids would definitely love.
