Kundalini yoga is a unique one. It combines effective yoga poses and meditation and mantras together for a beautiful experience. It is usually in a sequence and much emphasis is also placed on the breathing patterns. Kundalini yoga poses are practiced consciously to make the mind and the soul work together. Also, yogis are encouraged to set their gaze on something in order to focus deeply. Here are a few kundalini poses to get you started.
Kundalini Yoga: The Ego Eradicator Pose
This is relatively easy and it clears your mind and helps relax most of your muscles. If you do this pose often, you will see a lot of benefits. You will be able to think clearly and connect deeply with your inner self. To do this, all you need to do is start in a sitting position. The right sitting position is the sukhasana sitting position where you cross your legs at your ankle in front of you and keep your thighs adjacent to the ground. Then, stretch your hands up into the sky with your thumbs pointing directly at the sky. Your hands should be 160 degrees into the sky and focus your eyes on the third eye while inhaling and exhaling.
The Shoulder Twist Pose
This is another simple yet very soothing pose. It is easy to perform and will keep you relaxed for a long time. Also, it helps relieve tension in your shoulders and upper back. It increases the range of mobility in your shoulders and upper back also. The breathing patterns open up the lungs and energize your body. To perform this exercise, you should sit in the sukhasana position. Then, place your finger on your shoulders and hold on to your shoulders with your fingers. Then, gently twist left and right in a slow pattern while inhaling and exhaling.
The Archer Pose
This pose signifies strength and willpower. It helps you build your quadriceps and upper thigh muscles while strengthening your back and obliques. It is relatively easy to perform yet it gives great results. This is one that you can easily incorporate into your daily workout routine. To do this move, stand with your feet together and your arms raised above your head. Then, bring one of your left feet behind and lower your hands. Bring your right hands in front of you and gently pull your left hand behind as if you are stretching a bow. Focus on your right fist in front of you and lower your left feet behind you and hold this position for a while. Breathe in and breathe out consistently while holding this position. After a while, switch sides and repeat the same exercise.
With these three exercises, you will find out that you will be able to connect more with your mind and body. This is what the kundalini yoga promises participants. You will experience a new level of consciousness and feel more relaxed after performing the poses. The best part about it is that they are simple moves that you can easily pull anywhere. If you want to try out the new yoga practice, I will recommend Kundalini yoga a hundred percent.
